Psychotherapists Associated for the Research and the Study about EBE and their Contacts

As an answer to a phenomenon that is spreading all over the world, the following:

Mario Cigada, M.D., psychoterapeutist using hypnosis (Italy);

Giuseppe Colaminč, M.D., psychoterapeutist (Italy);

Giulia M. d’Ambrosio, M.D., psychoterapeutist (Italy);

Giuseppe Sferrazza, psychologist, psychoterapeutist (Italy);

Derrel Sims, CM.Ht, Certified Hypnotic Anesthesiologist, Certified Hypnotherapist (U.S.A.)

consider to form an independent group, named "Parsec", to study the Close Encounters of the Fourth Kind, with a particular referring to the "abduction" ones.

With this Protocol the presupposition of the research and the intentions are presented.

This document is necessary because it is too easy to attack the sphere of the psychodynamics, and to build, practically, a project of psychic research about a phenomenon that requires a focused approach of observation. It’s a work that needs therapeutists who have not a prior set idea of the nature of the phenomenon and who are not so enchented by their idea of the phenomenon to loose the intention of the research.

The Group wishes to mantain its research as independent from any organism – associative, religious, university, military, journalistic – to protect the research itself and the results against every kind of pressure. The Group agrees that this protocol and the results of the research are placed at the disposal of everyone who could be interested in them.

The promoters of the Group have the purpose to give their professional services:

  1. to preserve or reach the mental health of the people who refer to be involved in the phenomenon;
  2. to obtain enough organized, coherent and comparable psychological data using all the instruments/modalities for the diagnostic analisys and to evaluate the way to approach for that individual. Using this approach the psychoterapeutist becomes the instrument in the therapeutic relationship, using techniques chosen based on the experience of the therapeutist and the appropriateness to the client.

The aim to reach a precise conclusion about the CE4K is not in the Group’s purposes. In fact, Parsec intends to divulge the eventual results to the scientific community in the very nick of time and in the right places, to allow a deep and serious discussion about the question. Parsec is not born to pronounce or to ratify any result about the cause of these phenomena: the members intend to probe and to present a speculation about every theme of the psychology that might help to penetrate this actual peculiarity of the psychic research field.

Then this is an invitation to accept the phenomenology, an auspice to the creation of an open dialogue and to a meeting to formulate proposals with other collegues, in a national and international ambit. In fact, another Parsec’s aim is to give an official character to this protocol, that can improve over and over by confrontation.

Parsec thinks that the subjects which refer CE phenomena need caring with a therapeutic regularity, the only rule that can give assurance of a relation continuity, a containment of the strong feelings that seem to appear in these cases, a deep knowledge of the subjects’ dynamics, dreams, immaginative and material life’s aspects and creativity.

Parsec thinks that some tests can be useful to evaluate the subjects evenly in the first six months from caring. Every therapeutist will choose the moment to present the tests according to his/her own way to work and to approach. Useful tests could be the Minnesota personality test, the McHover’s figure drawing, the Cazeaux Method’s full-size figure drawing, the Luscher test and others.

All the forms of the approach between the therapeutist and the subjects who refer CE are regulated by general medical professional deontology and by the psychoterapy specific one.

Based on the past experiences, Parsec believes to separate the context in which these subjects may meet ufologic association representatives from the moment of caring by the professional who will attend to their emotional discomforts. It is not correct the presence of a "third" in the therapeutic context – except for particular/unusual moments, like it happens in other situations during more specifically clinic context.

Parsec believes that a caring with all the characteristics of therapeutic analysis is hardly credible if it is not accompanied with an economic transaction, also if it may be symbolic – that is reduced. The economic transaction sanctions the relation between the therapeutist and the person in a more clearly way: no therapeutic alliance – and no help that does not become sponging – is possible if there is not the perception of a need from who asks a support and if there is not a material element that makes the subject as owner of the contents that emerge within the relation and that makes the therapeutist responsible of the intervention.

The parts have to keep in mind that if the phenomena would be surely caused by a neurosis or a psychosis, the therapeutist can reformulate the therapeutic contract if the subject wish to proceed.

The Parsec’s members engage themselves to meet at least once a year to exchange opinions and studies, in addition to what is revealed during the meetings with CE people. It is desiderable that every Parsec’s member has their own supervisor who helps him/her to separate precisely the contents emerged during the relation with these subjects. Due to the difficulties to find other psychoterapeutist who feel inclined to hold this roll, Parsec engage itself to review every member’s work critically and serenely during the meetings.

The hypnotic regression is an instrument that could be useful to examine closely the question of CE4K; but the decision to subject the people to it will be taken only after the acquaintance between the therapeutist and the person has become deeper, usually not before one year of work together. The aim of using hypnosis can not be to obtain – in a "magic" way – removed memories. Commonly, in fact, they imagine that is relatively simple to emerge the "truth", thanks to hypnosis.

The real truth of a situation is not something that may be decided by the therapeutist or by the subject. The elements must be discussed, but only the unconscious of the subject can "decide", in some way, the times and the ways to reveal the real facts, and these times and ways must be respected because the risk is that the subject must confront his/her events when he/she is not ready to do it yet. Parsec’s aim is to obtain the well being of the people who turn to the therapeutist for help.

Another idea in current is that to force the research beside the subjects’ possibilities to absorb what is happening is justified due to the exceptional reason of their suffering. Instead Parsec believes that this suffering is not qualitatively different from others and that the right delicacy that must distinguish an intervention based on the respect of the person’s rights. Hypnosis is an instrument to examine closely the matter but it is not different from dreams interpretation or from using the creative immagination, and it must be considered and used as a psychoterapeutic instrument.

Parsec believes that hypnosis is possible only after the subject has processed all the memories and the feelings obtained with the common deepenig work and with the agreement of another member of the Group. Hypnosis must be conducted step by step, to let the subject process the themes that emerge. The work has to be lead keeping in mind everybody’s psychic process time and not considering the understandable need to know more that usually guide the ufologic researchers.

So the Group have consciousness that it will not be possible to analyse hundreds of subjects in a few months. However in the scientific research the results obtained are more probable if they are referred to a few tens of cases – but studied so much to become homogeneous – than to hundreds of cases superficially studied and in a disorganized manner.

From the first momento of caring by the psychoterapeutist, the subjects are not allowed to talk of their experiences to mass media. Interviews, appearance on television, interventions on the radio – even if they are made by phone and anonymously – are forbidden. These rules are to protect the work and to avoid the diffusion of facts that could not be originated from an encounter with extraterrestrial beings. Information to ufologic journalists is forbidden too.

Only the therapeutist who cares for the subject has the authorization – in according with another member of the Group – to speak about the case, protecting the subject’s name; this can happen in scientific contexts in preference. The reports to the press must preserve the scientific aspect. The therapeutists have to be authorized from the subjets to publish the personal matters coming from the therapeutic work.

The therapeutists are authorized to report the important parts of the work to the ufologists who had conducted the subjects to them. The ufologists are engaged in not spreading what they know until the end of the therapeutic process. Every report must be provided with the therapeutist’s and the subject’s authorization also after the end of the work.

The people who wish to begin a personal work can find a connection with the therapeutists through the ufologic associations or the Web site:

http://www.cun-italia.net/parsec.htm

The successive contact will be personal.

The promoters of Parsec can allow the entrance of other therapeutists in the group after a real reciprocal acquaintance.

We hope to work serenely and to dialogue frankly with other serene and frank people.
